Cane Creek

It may be a bit of a surprise to some people to learn that here at Cane Creek, cyclocross is in our blood.

Sure, we live and work within minutes of some of the best mountain biking in the country. And yes, our nearby paved roads have played host to classic, big-name races. But for many of us at Cane Creek, mountain biking and road racing are just a prelude: From that first August morning, when the temperature drops just enough, and fog off the river obscures the entire valley, we know it’s time.

We boast state championship podium finishers and total beginners among our ranks. We have raced national championships and two-person mudfests in driving rain. We have destroyed drivetrains, battered our bodies, burned our skin, sunk our minds — but like anyone who has ever lofted their bike over a barrier, we always come back, looking for more.

It’s true that technology alone can’t substitute for experience. We like to think, though, that the 110-Series headsets that adorn the team’s bikes bring everything together, providing that edge when the going gets rough. With made-in-North Carolina quality, top-notch stainless steel bearings, and best-in-class seals fighting off the worst of the peanut butter, the 110 gets the call year after year, and each year we’re happy to deliver.

Cane Creek has long been a proud supporter of the Richard Sachs Cyclocross Team. Our allegiance runs deep, and we’re looking forward to 2013 and beyond, with Nationals coming to our hometown of Asheville in just a few short years. In the meantime, we’re heading out each Wednesday for the practice races around the corner, spending each weekend chasing glory either here at home or in the state series, and getting ready for the UCI race in mid-December.

Because after all, it’s in our blood. And according to our opinion, there’s nothing else we’d rather do.
